Under Saddle

Horses featured here have been broken in and started along their career path. We tend to have horses at all stages featured here. Some will be currently in work and some may be out on a spell.

On most occasions, if a particular horse is on a spell and you as a buyer are serious about the horse we will bring it back into work so that you can view and ride the horse.

At this stage all horses offered here are trained to a point where they are able to be taken on and started at small shows.  Read each individual horse’s blurb for the more specific aspects of where they are at in their training.

Young Stock

Young Stock

Horses featured here are not yet of the age to be broken in and ridden.

All our foals are handled from an early age, they have their feet trimmed regularly and are halter broken prior to weaning.

After weaning they are branded, micro chipped and all colts become geldings!

We also do some more intensive handling at this age where they are taught to tie up, lead and load.

We don’t handle our youngsters a huge amount; as long as they are easy enough to catch, trim, worm, tie up and load we leave them alone pretty much until they are broken in.

They run around in the big paddock (30 acres) pretty much wild in a herd of between 3 and 6 other youngsters.

They are supplement fed as needed, but mostly graze on pasture 100% of the time and always have access to lick blocks.

We believe at such a young age it is important for them to learn to be horses and to live as close to the way nature intended as possible.

We  find this gives them a really good brain as an older horse.

The knowledge of the nature of a horse is one of the first foundations of the art of riding and every horseman must make it his principal study.
